In California, earthquakes are as normal as the sun rising each day. However, not all earthquakes are created equal. Seismic upgrades are necessary to protect life and property from the effects of larger earthquakes. Although seismic design and installation of seismic restraints has been included in building designs for many years, each large earthquake (Northridge 1994, Loma Prieta 1989, San Fernando 1970) generates new design requirements. PENCON has been providing seismic upgrades for over 15 years. These range from full structural upgrades to equipment bracing.
